Due to the unique qualities of our ORFEUS production system, our growth factors do not contain any animal derived substances, no serum carryover and no other contaminating molecules like endogenous growth factors, cytokines, chemokines etc.
Our growth factors and cytokines are biorisk-free as they are produced in the barley endosperm. They are therefore animal-free, void of antibiotics, endotoxin-free, pyrogenic and pro-inflammatory-free, void of bacteria, viruses, and prions and are eukaryotic folded and glycosylated.
Our growth factors and cytokines are currently not cGMP validated. We are however in the process of establishing a GMP compliant production facility to produce biorisk-free cGMP growth factors and cytokines in the near future. The biorisk-free products nonetheless represent a significant improvement in safety over products produced using traditional production platforms.
Our products should only be used for research purposes. We will however offer cGMP compliant growth factors in the near future, available for clinical testing.
ORF Genetics offers its customers effective, pure, and safe products. We carry out rigorous analysis of our products, including purity assessment to assure our customers high quality products. Our growth factors are tested for biological activity by independent third-party companies or laboratories. This information is provided in a data sheet for each batch of every product.
The lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for several weeks. However, we recommend to stored it at -20°C. Reconstituted proteins should be used immediately or stored in working aliquots at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. If properly stored, our growth factors are stable for at least 3 years from product release.
